A tasty chicken‑flavoured capsule formulated with key ingredients to support a healthy bladder lining and help maintain normal stress levels. Contains N‑acetyl D‑glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, and L‑tryptophan for comfort and wellbeing.
N‑acetyl D‑glucosamine
Normal, healthy bladders are lined with glycosaminoglycan (GAG), which protects them from direct exposure to urine and helps prevent discomfort. N‑acetyl D‑glucosamine provides essential building blocks for these GAGs, supporting the maintenance of this protective layer.
Hyaluronic acid
A key component of the GAG layer that supports bladder integrity and comfort.
L‑tryptophan
L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid involved in the production of serotonin, often referred to as the ‘happy hormone’, which supports normal mood and stress levels
Artificial chicken flavouring
Enhances palatability, making it easier to give to your cat.

Cystophan can be used in cats from 6 months of age. If you feel there may be a reason to use Cystophan in a younger kitten, please contact our Veterinary Technical Team for advice.
Cystophan is specially formulated to support healthy bladder function in cats. Because dogs experience different types of urinary problems, we recommend using CystoPro, which is designed to support bladder health in dogs.
There’s usually no need to use both products at the same time. If you’re unsure which option is best for your cat, we recommend speaking with your veterinary surgeon or contacting the Protexin Veterinary Technical Team for advice.
Yes. Cystophan is safe for long-term use.
If your cat eats dry food, you can lightly dampen a small portion of the kibble with water so the Cystophan powder sticks when mixed in. Alternatively, you can mix the capsule contents with a small amount of wet food or a tasty treat to make sure your cat gets the full dose.
Yes, Cystophan can be mixed with a small amount of water. Please note that it will not dissolve but will form a soft paste. This paste can be mixed into your cat’s food or given directly into their mouth. However, it’s usually easiest to give the capsule whole or opened and sprinkled onto food.
Cystophan should never be added to hot food or mixed in before cooking. We recommend letting the food cool to lukewarm before mixing in Cystophan.
Cystophan does not contain chicken, soya, wheat, dairy or yeast. The flavouring is fully artificial and contains no meat proteins, making it suitable for pets with common food allergies.
Cystophan can be used alongside most products in the Protexin Veterinary range. If you wish to use Cystophan alongside SereniCare or Denamarin, please contact our technical team first.
Cystophan can be given at the same time as antibiotics, however if your pet is taking other behavioural medications or supplements, we recommend speaking with your veterinarian before use.
Cystophan is not recommended for use during pregnancy or lactation. While the use of L-tryptophan has not been studied in pregnant animals, pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to avoid L-tryptophan supplementation, so caution is advised.
No, Cystophan does not affect the pH of your cat’s urine.
Yes, Cystophan is safe to use in pets with bladder stones. It does not affect urine pH and therefore will not influence the formation or dissolution of bladder stones.
