Pro-Kolin Advanced for Dogs

Pro-Kolin Advanced can be used in dogs and cats from 8 weeks of age.  If you feel you may need to use this product in younger animals, please contact our Veterinary Technical Team for advice. 

Yes. Pro-Kolin Advanced has been specially formulated with separate versions for dogs and cats. The cat formulation includes taurine, an essential amino acid for feline health, and features a flavour chosen for maximum palatability in cats. 

Yes, Pro-Kolin Advanced for Dogs is safe for cats, however we recommend using the cat-specific formulation where possible.  The cat version contains taurine, an essential amino acid for feline health, and a flavour selected for maximum palatability in cats, which are not included in the dog formulation. 

Pro-Kolin Advanced contains the same high-quality ingredients as the original Pro-Kolin, with additional components to provide enhanced gastrointestinal support. These include an extra clay (montmorillonite), fibre in the form of psyllium, and beta-glucans. Pro-Kolin Advanced is also available in separate formulations for dogs and cats, each with species-specific flavourings for maximum palatability. 

We recommend giving Pro-Kolin Advanced for 2–3 days, although it may be used for longer under the guidance of your veterinary surgeon. If digestive disturbances persist beyond this period, or if your pet shows any signs of being unwell, you should contact your veterinary surgeon as soon as possible. 

Yes. Pro-Kolin Advanced can be mixed with food or given straight from the syringe. 

Pro-Kolin Advanced should never be added to hot food or mixed in before cooking as this will destroy the probiotic (beneficial bacteria).  We recommend letting the food cool to lukewarm before mixing in Pro-Kolin Advanced. 

Pro-Kolin Advanced does not contain any meat protein, wheat or dairy. The flavouring is fully artificial and contains no meat proteins, making it suitable for pets with common food allergies. 

Pro-Kolin Advanced does contain soya oil and beta glucans, a purified molecule derived from the yeast cell wall.  While beta-glucans should not trigger the same allergic response as whole yeast, we recommend using caution in animals with known yeast allergies. 

Yes. Pro-Kolin Advanced can be safely used alongside other products in the Protexin Veterinary range, as well as with most other supplements and medications, including antibiotics. 

When given with antibiotics or other medication, we recommend administering Pro-Kolin Advanced a few hours later to avoid any potential reduction in efficacy. 

Yes. Pro-Kolin Advanced can be given to pregnant and lactating animals. 

Store Pro-Kolin Advanced in a cool, dry place at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. If the weather is extremely hot and there are no suitably cool areas in your home, Pro-Kolin Advanced can be stored in a refrigerator. 

Pro-Kolin Advanced will remain effective until the Best Before End (BBE) date printed on the syringe, provided it is stored in a cool, dry place. After each use, ensure the nozzle is cleaned and dried thoroughly and the cap replaced to keep the product fresh and hygienic. 

No. We do not advise using any product that has passed the expiry date on the package. 

Accidental exposure to sunlight or high temperatures will not make Pro-Kolin Advanced harmful to your cat or dog. However, the ingredients may become less effective if the product has been exposed to heat for an extended period.
